Sorry but if that really was a Brabus/Kleeman tuned Mercedes shouldn't it have beaten the M3 by a much greater margin? Even with the extra weight that the Merc carries, the power difference (343hp vs 620hp) should surely make up for it?!

I call BS on this one as well. If that is a Brabus tuned car than it would have to be the C V8 Sportscoupe with the 6.1L V8 and NO Kleeman blower. Rated at 426bhp, this would better explain this race, especially with the apparent extra weight of the MB.
If this car was blown and putting down 620bhp, that would put it square in SLR territory, if not faster cause it has to be much lighter than the SLR. We all saw the way the SLR walked away from the SL55 in the Top Gear drag race. There is no way this M3 is as fast as an SL55 and this C Class coupe hardly beat this M3.

he never said the M3 was stock... couldve been modded. I think the MB may have been handicapped a bit with the traction control. It couldve helped, but if the M3 driver was good, he shouldve been able to launch better w/out any computer involvement. I saw an AMG SL500 the other day, it was quite nice. But I never knew these AMG cars made so much power!

I remember having a similar conversation after the E55 vs. Mustang Cobra videos and it seemed as though the Merc's launch control is actually quite good (may not be the same in the CLK) but the Merc looked slower than the M3 right until the end of the run - just seems a bit odd for a car with 600+ hp!
that M3 could not be stock to be that close

If it was the 620Bhp version there's definetely something wrong here..

either the m3 was modded or the clk was not a brabus, because it should not be that close.

I think there was something funky, be it the power claim of the Benz or the the M3's "stockness" or the driving ability of the two drivers.
A stock M3 does a quarter mile in about mid 13s. Treynor's Benz S600 will hit mid 11s and was dyno'd at about 650hp with a RENNtech chip. A 2 second difference is a lot. I know Treynor's car is twin turbo and V12, but from a power standpoint, it's about the same as that CLK, but with likely more weight. That race was pretty close and didn't seem right.
Treynor's car info:

Any thoughts?
