First I thougth it could be an RX8 Roadster but when I looked well, it seems to be an MX5, what do you think about?

Thanks, I think the same as you, dani. Will be a pretty car if it is like this one, don´t you think?

it definitely looks like a Miata with a RX-8 front end to me

If it's the new mx-5, it would be fantastic with a rotative engine. I just hope it will stay not expensive.

i'm gonna have to say that it's an RX, not an MX. if i remember correctly, the future concept of the miata looks totally different than this. and it wouldn't suprise me if there's a convertible version of the RX8 on the way, an answer to the 350z.

It's either the new MX-5, or the new RX-7 (autocar said that Mazda's reintroducing it)

I don't think it will be a RX7, coz if they were to build one, it's prolly a hardtop first

Its prolly gonna be the MX5 Miata (I hope it got a rotor engine in it =P~)

I don't know what this is ... it can be a a future MX5, but it defenitely not looks like the prototypes that were supposed to give us an idea of the new mx 5 , the mazda Ibuki

and i have to say ... ik like more the design of the ibuki, that's more timeless than the sharp style of the rx-8

The new mazda concept does look ungly in the photos but in person it acually looks cool. The ibuki low and wide and it is really clean even though the whole thing is plastic. :D

well i don't think the ibuki is the next MX5, i read in CAR magazine that that is just something to show ppl wut the MX5 might become. the picture posted in this topic look more like the new miata. Ibuki is too futuristic for now.

I think it is a MX-5, but maybe the RX-8 front is just a mask so we think its a RX-8?

It's the new Mazda MX5. The body on this car is purely camouflague though, just to hide what's underneath....

Will the rotary come to the roadster or vice versa?
by Hans Lehmann/Hidden Image (2004-05-24)

The next generation of Mazda's Miata, one of the world's best-selling roadsters, is due in late 2005 or early 2006. The first Miata came on the market in 1989 in Japan and later to the U.S. and Europe, where it became also a great success.

Here are photos of a first prototype mule of the current Miata's successor during tests at Germany's Nürburgring. To judge from the prototype's front end, the new model is likely to resemble the RX-8, with a styling only moderately like last year's Ibuki concept car.

Please, it's a test mule, It's a hacked current Miata rear mated with a hacked RX-8 front end. The final version is not going to look like this.

That photo is in this month's Wheels (or maybe it was Motor) magazine. Like LotusGT1 said, it's just a mx-5 undergoing testing with an rx-8 front to mask what it will really look like. The platform will NOT be the same as the rx-8 either, although there will be a degree of component sharing apparently.

That is a spyshot from about a year ago of the next-generation Mazda Miata/MX-5, if you look around you'll find it's been posted all over the internet. The front end is a merely the RX-8's stuck on because it's near to the dimensions of the Miata's new front, and if you notice, only the central intake is open, the others are taped off. This is so that the powertrain engineers can work with some data as to how much air the engine can get under harsh driving conditions and as a result they can work on breathing, cooling and so on and so forth.

not bad i think, ideal japan design, without copying european cars
