I was wondering if any of you have had experience with juke boxes like Dell or Apple iPod in your car.

1. Is the reception via the radio good ... sound quality that is
2. How easy is to sort and organize music by genre or other criteria

Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance

a friend of mine has an iPod hooked up to his car stereo, but its very distracting if you are driving and trying to mess with it at the same time. other than that it sounds good and is clear. i dont know how he has it hooked up through the stereo, but im assuming that its a random radio station. iPod is a good system but you have to sort playlists out before you drive.

Depending on what type of car you have and how many times you have already taken the dash apart, it may be in your best interst to simply go with an mp3 cdplayer, sort out your songs at home put your entire library on a couple disks seperated by which ever way you would like and call it a day, It has been my experience with mp3 disks that i can fit as many as up to 177 songs on one disc. Most mp3 cd players have very clear displays are simple to operate without trying to focus on a tiny lcd screen and if you have steering controls another benefit of going with an indash mp3 cd etc you can still operate your player without reaching over to the center console just use the proper wiring harness for your year and model car.

Thanks for all the comments...

What attracts me to a solution such as iPod or its kind is that my car interior remains unmolested and stock and also that it is portable - can be transported from one car to another.

I agree about the chances of it getting stolen but I will get some FM transponder solution where I can hide the iPod in the glove box or armrest away from prying eyes ...

if you want to use the ipod an rf modulator will work well. another, better solution is to use and Ice-Link. Dension produces them, and they integrate the ipod with a stock or aftermarket head unit. it actually allows you to control the ipod's functions through the head unit and even steering wheel remotes. it is only available for specific car models and aftermarket units, so check the website if what you have is compatible.
