Hey guys, I just had a small debate with a friend about spoilers on msn. I just wanted to hear your opinions on the topic. Oh btw, here was our discussion (I'm JDM Silvia Drifter). I think its safe to say that I won the argument lol:

MATT says:
the spoiler is cool
JDM Silvia Drifter says:
lol..it looks so rice
JDM Silvia Drifter says:
spoilers on most japanese cars don't look good
MATT says:
yah they do
JDM Silvia Drifter says:
bah
JDM Silvia Drifter says:
u and your bad taste lol
JDM Silvia Drifter says:
other than the evo, sti and skyline, name a japanese car that looks better with a spoiler
MATT says:
omg u have the worst tast u like stock looking shit i like done up cars
JDM Silvia Drifter says:
done up car???!!!lol you like riced up cars
MATT says:
yah
JDM Silvia Drifter says:
those spoilers have no use other than looking ugly and wieghing down the car
JDM Silvia Drifter says:
why the hell would you need a spoiler than big on a road car????
MATT says:
they do stuff
JDM Silvia Drifter says:
look, the koenigsegg, ferrari enzo, 360, 575, mclaren, lambos and most supercars don't have spoilers
MATT says:
yah they do
JDM Silvia Drifter says:
what lol
MATT says:
small 1's under the car
JDM Silvia Drifter says:
no they don't, and they don't have the big ass rice ones on the back of the car either
JDM Silvia Drifter says:
the underbody of a modern supercar is flat as possible, there is even an underbody cover
MATT says:
yah with air drifts
JDM Silvia Drifter says:
those aren't spoilers tho
MATT says:
yah yah
JDM Silvia Drifter says:
lol
JDM Silvia Drifter says:
no no
JDM Silvia Drifter says:

JDM Silvia Drifter says:
u think thats a spoiler?
JDM Silvia Drifter says:
those are called difusers
MATT says:
yah
JDM Silvia Drifter says:
but there not spoilers lol
MATT says:
they act like spoilers
JDM Silvia Drifter says:
u mean they create downforce, that doesn't make them spoilers, thats like saying the holes in the front of the enzo and f50 are spoilers
JDM Silvia Drifter says:
u see the great lengths ferrari went to to remove the spoiler? thats because spoilers are ugly
MATT says:
u suck
JDM Silvia Drifter says:
lol

All I can say is that Matt guy doesn´t know too much about cars and/or spoilers and seems to be a ricer :D

lmao, leave him alone and let him waste his money. Then when he pulls up beside you with his huge useless spoiler and ground effects, dust him with your stock-looking car that was modded the rite way.

well here's my opinion, spoiler is good if it's actually there to help and i don't wanna c any of those on cars that aren't sport cars like corolla and civic and shit. and i also hate spoiler on car that doesn't need it like the enzo.

It's called *spoil*er for a reason! That's why I call the one on my car "trunk lid" ;)

i don't mind them at all...it depends on designs tho. if they look like batman wings then they're ugly. i actually like some of the gt wings on a S15

i like spoilers on race cars and supercars that actually need downforce at high speeds. but those cars also have functional aero stuff all over them, which is naturally the correct use.

on stupid little Honda Accords and shit that i see around town, its totally useless to throw a huge spoiler on the back. it looks okay on a select few "tuned" cars that have functional bodykits to go with the wing. but of course most "tuners" are just ricers and throw ugly looking body kits and gigantic wings to make their cars look stupid and weigh more.

I agree with Racer F50 and JDM drifter guy, spoilers are only any good where applicable, in High performance vehicles that require additional downforce to fine tune the handling of the vehicle.
Using spoilers for so called style applications is completley useless, does nothing but add more weight and as we all agree 99.99999 % of them are a disgusting eyesore put on thier cars by dumb kids who dont realize just cause the car looks fast , ITS NOT :!: . This is the same pack of low grade morons who put gaudy stickers on thier car have more bass coming from thier rattling liscense plate and the extent of their car knowlede barley branches beyond the fast and the furious. you alll know what im talking about,
They have a show called what not to wear , lets make a show called
What NOT to do to your Car.

I agree with dani. When a car don't need a spoiler it's designed according to this fact. So if you put one in it I think you break the original lines of the machine.
Also, in many cases the spoiler it isn't useless, it's dangerous. Many people put so huge rear spoilers that at high speed the air force lift up the front of the car, so the efficacy of the front wheels is decreased.

The only spoiler i like is the one on my 540i, which is the M5 one. But its more of a lip than a spoiler =).

no spoiler for me... only if its really subtle like on the 360 challenge stradale... just a lip.... i cant stand huge carbonfiber spoilers! see em all the time though!

It's especially disturbing to see huge rear spoilers on FWD cars... I mean, do they think they really need to get rid of some excessive oversteer or what?

Fully agree with you, Silvia_drift, and the rest of the crew here, aftermarket spoilers are rubbish.

ricers.....leave him alone.....there is no point to confront with him since he has been confused with the technical aspect of the spoilers...hahhahaaa..ricers

spoilers that are bolted on are ridiculous, especially "double wings" IMO, if your car has a stock spoiler, keep that and dont screw with the aftermarket crap.

Normally i dont like the spoilers in terms of the beauty for any certain car, although for me there are some car models which have some spoiler, and they look good, such as the sierra rs cosworth, the escort cosworth, the mitsubishi lancer evo VIII, the E-30 M3, the merc 190 E 2.3-16

Only factory fitted spoilers....or the ones that are made by REAL tuners, like RUF!

huge spoilers and big wings at the back are absolutely anti-aerodynamics.

Please elaborate, not. So if you´r right, why the hell do F1 have 1, WRC, Lemans, every fucking top race car series have 1. STFU

Lambo no longer put spoilers on their road cars, the Lambo....

The Gallardo spoiler is not a spoiler then. So what is it then Enstein? A rectangular freesbee that didnt fit in the trunk? No, i know: it´s the reminescense of a extra taillight support. Could be?

Spoilers that were designed to improve performance are ok but those that are attached to make a car look more "sporty" is crap.
