Ok here is the situation I Finally after having my car in the shop for a long time, it is happening now! :D , I have got my stock drums checked, a new master cylinder, my brake light's and signal light's working, new front head lights , the carb dialed in it's runs good! Now the big question! I will have about 1.400$ left to spend, At first I was thinking doug headers and msd Ignition, But(so you know I need everything) Now I'm thinking just msd Ignition and keep the dingy ass rusted heders I have on ther for now! so what mod should I do for about the extra 1'100 or so? Any response Is greatly appreciated , what would you do? It's a old 67 cougar Running Good, look's terrible, interior terrible Trans Old and stock, same for the rear, suspension Shit, Motor Looking good other than headers and ignition, What mod would you do? Speak Away !! Thanks

i know you said you wanted to shy away from this, but i think the exhaust is the best bet for more hp/torque @ the wheels per any one mod...
if you do most of the work yourself exhaust will will run you about $800 - $900. And you will see about 25 - 30 more HP to the rear wheels, not only that, but oh, the sound :)

Probably not what you wanted to hear, but, I'd spend that money on fixing the car up before modding it.

id go with headers. maybe some hooker headers.

Id invest in some new paint, or body panels, or whatever it needs. No sense in souping it up when its barely holding itself together. After all that is said and done, I'd go for a nice Long-Tube header --> Off-Road H-Pipe --> Flowmaster Catback exhaust setup. They sound awesome, add tons of power, and if you get some chrome long tubes and tips, they will look the part too! I was going to go this route, but then I ran out of money. lol... maybe in a couple of months i'll have it all ready, we'll see. I dont know about the rules where you are, but here if your car is 20+ years old, you dont need to e-test it, so it doesnt really matter what exhaust u run as long as you dont exceed 100db. They are apparently phasing out emissions testing here in the next 4 years, so im gunna throw the illegal (catless) system on there, and come e-test time i'll throw the stockers back on.

thanks guys, I am going to get msd Ignition, I have the dingy old ass headers but they will work for now  But I know Looks are big The motor was already built as I dropped it in just needed little Things, So Ill get the Ignition get my linkage to my tranny fixed , try and get my original fuel gage going, all fluids changed, then I could drive it(after DMV BULLSHIT) I already Have Piping And Exhaust Flowmasters, a carb they dialed it in too run perfect! :D It's a 650 dp flowing at 700cfm, They were working on a draw(elctrical shortage) something was draining the batterys power But they said they know what it is so they will fix it, Thanks for Your Info, I want to get look's, Interior, and all of the above, But It was already Built But If I need some shit to get It going Ill do It now Then work on the others :D,

I would say suspension/rear end. Put in a nice rear end with good gearing and it would make all the difference in the world. Same with the tranny. IMO I would fix up the drivetrain, suspension etc before I tackled the body/interior.

Yea for sure, Tranny and rearend I don't think will last long, Im gonna (really) take it easy on it during the break in until I have money for that, Once motor is fully broken in mash it break rear end, then get a new one Like a 9 inch with some gears and a beefed up tranny :D, after sittin in the shop for a long time now, it's getting started, It's getting me all excited :D at Least it starting too happen :)
