Did Top Gear ever test any American muscle cars?

I've only recently become a Top Gear fan and I was wondering if they ever tested any American muscle cars such as 70's Trans Am's, Chevy Chevell SS's, or Corvette Stingrays.

I know everyone is into the flashy new foreign cars (hell so am I!) but I'd love to see some of those older cars in action just after they came out o the factory.

Well they tested the Monaro since it will come to UK through Vauxhall dealer :D

Personally I'll take the Merc S55 AMG :D

Ford GT, not really, it wasn't really American from the start and it isn't a muscle car...nor will Jeremy ever want to drive a muscle car. Maybe he'll drive the Corvette C6

Jeremy hates corvettes, he blew a C4 (no pun intended) up in one of his videos.

I think Jeremy test drove a Viper a while back in detroit and he liked it. He also made a "greatest car" segment last year for the *old* ford Mustang.

The Ford GT and the 69 mustang were the only ones I remember. He talked about the fastback when they were comparing the best cars ever!

I love the new cars that are out today but I swoon every time I come across a fully restored Olds, Pontiac, Ford, or Chevy. I just remember them from my childhood and I still want 'em :wink:

That being said, I'd still love to have a S55 AMG tho...all that power and cushy ride

I know the feeling. Of course, often when I tell someone that I like old cars, hot rods, etc. they think thats all I like. I like all cars that arent crap no matter where they come from.

I agree, I remember having hot wheels when I was little, of Porsches, which has always been the car manufactuer I love the most...and I had a 962 remote control car from the sharper image..that I ended up crashing, that was a sad day...but I know that if I ever in my lifetime get enough money I will go out buy a Dauer 962..

When I was 18 I bought a '78 Trans Am..why you ask? 'Cuz I saw Smokie & The Bandit. :o

Sharp looking car but it was the biggest piece of s**t that I have ever owned. Bloody thing cost me almost as much in repair bills as it did to buy. Took me a while to like anything GM again.

But it was a muscle car and I always wanted one. Now I'm onto bigger and better (and heaps more 'spensive).

I'll get that S55 AMG some day :)

But then again beauty is in the eye of the beholder. There are lots of cars and lots of people that love them just the same. Better said is that car enthusiasts love all cars classic and new and not just a select few. Am I right?

i have the Mustang video and Jeremy absolutely love the Mustang, i also the GT40 and the Ford GT video. beside those 3 i don't think there's anything else.

the Ford GT was also in Detroit i wish he would test drive some cars like the Challenger, Charger, Road Runner (just to name a few off the top of my head) but i bet he wont even touch the keys to those cars

i havent seen the old mustang video... but
in TG mag, i know they tested a 2002 mustang Bullit (cobra intake manifold for '5 more bhp') and enjoyed the ride.

the ford gt that JC tested was just a preview... im sure he will be one of the first in the UK to have a production version, so im sure we will see a good test... then again, mabey not as JC didnt give his merc the full tv test.

i cirtailny hope to see Tiff testing the GT.
and... the MGSV test is somewhat similar to what the mustang cobra would be...

Richard Hammond drove a Charger R/T last night. Also Jeremy argued with him for some time that in fact the Challenger R/T was a better car.. ie kowalski's white car from "Vanishing Point", vs the baddies car from "Bullitt"... :D

- The dodge charger(Richard Hammond)
- The GT40(Jeremy Clarkson)
- Holden GTO(Jeremy as well)
- Cadillac CTS-R (Richard Hammond)
