Just out of curisosity, I'm wondering witch mobiles phone you guys use. And if you consider as important the choice of your mobile phone.

I had lots of them but right now I owned a siemens SL55, and it's quite good, very stylish....:

up to you now!

I like the SL55 and it has a classy name LOL!

I had lot of Ericsson mobile phones, but now I decided I won't change mine as long as it works, and it's a Ericsson T39m

I can't stand the new trend about useless phones, full of useless stuff like camera and so on.. for me a mobile phone, is a phone I can take with me everyday, with a normal screen (no colors needed), as small as possible, no funny sound, no pics, nothing else.. only phone and SMS...

BTW, a very nice one is IMO

The sl55 (yes, great name!!) is one of the smallest phone I've ever had, the only one that was smaller was the panasonic gd55... but they aren't in the same league.. :)

Ericsson T200

I don't use my cellphone a lot so it is enough for me. The reception of this phone is not very good though. From my experience the most cellphone obsessed people are: Koreans, Japanese, and Norweigans. North Americans are so backwards in this regard relatively lol.

Well I suppose I'm a mobile addict... as well as a car addict... just that mobile phone are - for the moment - afordable for me wheras car aren't.

I change whenever I can but I generally make good deals, because mobiles devaluates really quickly. and if you don't sell them soon enough it's better not to sell them at all. I've got about 30 mobiles in my life and I quite enjoy when I just bough one and discover all it's novelties...

LOL, I get your point, but I really don't understand why to add feature to cell phones that were already perfect as they were last year... camera, polyphonic sounds, color screens and so on...

IMHO, a cell phone should be as simple as possible, not a status simbol full of the latest evolutions on the market...

But of course I'm one of the few that think that way, since "normal" cell phones are more and more rare...

I agree wth you tt, My key points for choosing a mobile are design, size and autonomy, I just sold a ericsson T610... color screen camera ect ect, but I didn't like the menus... too slowwww and really too big. I don't care about camera as long as I keep my digital camera witch take LOT better pict than mobiles one

I totally agree with you TT, but phones nowadays are still missing one feature: AI... they should make it so that it doesn't ring when you're "busy" Who wants it to ring when there's a mclaren F1 driving by

Wide
08-18-2003, 02:32 PM
yea.. you r right tt.. but u know they must always upgrade the features.. yesterday we started watchin tv on it.. today we r giving pose for the little cam.. I think tomorrow we will gona listen music with wireless micro woofer including 4.1 surround system.. eheh

sl55 review:

impressive design, really cute in red, don't buy it in grey... to normal,
size also impressive, really smal but a bit thick. the color screen is a bit better that the s55 but not as good as the T610, only 4000 colors and not enough pixels. Menu is fast and easy to use, everything is in there lot more complete than the T610. Missing Mp3 player and bluetooth. The sliding trick is cool but I wonder if it'll resist more than 3 mounth, seems a bit fragile. ringtones are ok but no hi-fi tones, only midi and only 16 tones (witch is not enough) it's got an integreted hands free and a really good agenda, and java capabilyties. battery time is just normal for a small color mobile : about 2-3 days. the charger is really great it's so small it take no place in your luggage when you travel...

so globally:
pro:
design, size, volume of the tones, agenda, java and mmf support, build quality
cons:
screen, 16 tones ringtones, click click keypad, price...(ouch) NO mp3 nor bluethooth

st-anger
08-18-2003, 02:58 PM
well i don`t really need bluetooth and i hardly used the mp3 player in my sl45.....
what about the organizer ( very important for me )

mendocino
08-18-2003, 03:01 PM
organizer is quite good, synchro with outlook for memos and phonebook, gestion of recurence and multi alarm, what else would you like to have?

Great to have a specialist in the house, mendocino. :D I still use an old Nokia, I don't even know it's name to be honest. :? My sister gave it to me when she bought herself a new one. Don't know how long it will last, but when it breaks down I'll get in touch with you for advice. 8)

nope, I don't have problem with my battery. It can last 4 days standing by. 2-3 days of normal use. It's quite heavy though.

The problem is that nokia just has to make to much 3310 and the batteries aren't the same quality, A friend of mine has change 4 times in a year!! that a shame. and btw at this price, nimh battery and no wap is rubbish. it's a ok phone but none the best for this price

Here, the same model, the price range is RM150-RM260. Of course they're used phone. Nokia has stop their production. Divide the price with 3.8 and you'll know how much it is in US$

I guess i'm one of the addicts: Siemens S45 and S55, Ericsson R200, T68i and P800, Motorola T720, now getting Ericsson T610 ...
But I only use two of them in everyday life.

my 3310 review:
i drop it all the time it still works
i can make calls on it, i can recieve calls on it
i can recieve sms's on it, i can send sms's on it
it vibrates.....
wow it does evreything a phone needs to do, hence making it perfect!

the only thing i could ask for is a bit more storage space for sms's :)

i have a samsung n628.
it does its job but has the worse reception..actually its like all samsungs.
i only got it because it had the polyphonic ringtones.

actually japan are nuts about their phones. but obviously they can because they have the network to support. don't know the percentage but i think a lot of them are on G3 whilst a slow ass country like australia are still on GSM. basically our telecom industry suck. a company called telstra controls absolutely everything. they do a shit job and charge a shitload of money. they always have sneaky tricks to lure customers into debt, especially ppl using their cable internet...i think i'll end my rant here coz its off topic.

the t400 has a great little colour screen, and looks stylish 8) .. but is pretty thick, and since my phone lives in my pocket, the nokia is probably more practicle :|

Anybody knows if the T310 is any good? i am planning to get one of those as the price is good and I like the look of it.

mendocino
08-28-2003, 11:38 AM
T310 good look for the money but quite rubbish, poor colors, poor finition, and not quite good features, but most of all, like the T68, T610 it's really really too slow! you always wait for it to do what you told it to do... It's may sound stupid, but after 2weeks, you'll get furious against that...

haha604
08-28-2003, 01:02 PM
Thx mendocino. Yeah I notice that the software on most Ericsson phones is really slow, but damn I raelly dig the price and the look of the T310. I wonder if the reception of the T310 is any good cuz that's what I am most concerned about.

mendocino
08-28-2003, 05:41 PM
well it's good and bad at the same time: I reach network where some doesn't but the network strenght varies all the time... it's a bit annoying because it sometimes cut the conversation.

After a Sony (which I had for a year) and two years a Nokia 3310, I now have a Nokia 6610. Never had a problem with either of them.

I like the look of the 6610, but I don't do anything with it that I couldn't with the other two phones. Hmmm, except for the diary, which is quite handy I have to admit. But usually it's just like with possesed beaver's phone, calling and sending sms. The pictures you can take with some phones are crappy anyway.
