I'm dutch, and i was wondering if you all know (im sure you do) 'our pride' Spyker. Since you all probably lkow it i was wondering what you think about Spyker. I think its great, but they only sold 1 car in the last year (in the Netherlands probably).

Use the search function. There are already some topics on Spyker.

This is a forum where most people (if not all) admire exclusive performance cars, so pretty much everyone knows about Spyker...

I had never thought you were Dutch. Your username 'scharreltje' doesn't exactly give it away. :D

I think there are to many supercar manufactures.
U almost get a "supercar" every week from everywhere in the world.
As tiff said the word supercar is been abused these days.
A supercar is not only about speed IMO, it's also about prestige.
And if u are going to by a supercar, what will u go for, a Ferrari or a unknow manufacture??

You have a supercar from a relatively unknown manufacturer as your avatar!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Which would YOU choose then?

I have a short clip of the Spyker being driven by Damon Hill and a journalist. I don't know the journalists name but he was on Top Gear a few years ago. He's in a Top Gear review of the newer SL500. Young guy with glasses. If anyone wants it I can certainly post it.

That is a clip with Damon Hill and Jason Barlow in the Spyker Double 12 S. That's a streetlegal version of their Le Mans car. It's a funny review, because they've added subtitles since the car is so damn loud.

I prefer the C8 Laviolette and C8 Spyder, they're better looking.

Spyker has to build proper cars first. The problem of Spyker is that they first build a car and started engineering afterwards.... That's why they have lots of problems at the moment with buildquality and reliability. They talk big, but aren't able to accomplish their promises they made a couple of years ago. I.M.O they are no real contender in the supercarworld yet.

They build proper and high-tech cars in the past, hopefully the will do it again.

The Spyker C8 Spyder will be tested by Topgear next Sunday (11 July) Let's see what their opinion is about this car. Hopefully it will be tested without the ridiculous hard-top...

they only sold 1 car in the last year???

well...if they don't work hard,

the name spyker has meaning but the modern company simply bought the rights to the name.
There is no direct link between the two. I don't think that really counts as heritage. Same with the veyron and eb110. they might be great cars but good marketing does not create heritage.

Honestly, though, Spyker is the one of two Dutch things i like. The other is Rebecca Romijn Stamos (or Rebecca Romijn since she's single now) She's just Dutch by blood by the way, she's Californian.

Well, you are right. People will go with the well known Ferrari. But there are those few(Like myself) who actually prefer the more unknown Pagani, Koenigsegg, Spyker and etc.

Sad to hear Spyker only sold one car! I'd like to see them stay in bussiness.

They'll stay in business allright. In fact, a couple of weeks ago Spyker got a notation at the Amsterdam stock exchange, so a great deal of money has been attracted for further funding. The founder of Spyker, Victor Muller, is a very succesful and wealthy entrepeneur and I'm sure he can pull this off as well. If it is true only one car has been built, it probably is because the car still needs to be developed further.
